Fireflies vs Gong
Fireflies sells meeting notes for $10 a seat. Gong sells a revenue forecast for a contract your CFO has to approve. Both record your sales calls, which is why they get compared constantly, but they are not trying to do the same job. Picking wrong costs more than either one.
The short answer
Fireflies is an AI notetaker for the whole company. It joins your Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams calls, transcribes them in 100+ languages, and hands back summaries, action items, and a searchable archive, for about the price of a coffee subscription.
Gong is a revenue intelligence platform built for enterprise sales teams. It captures calls too, but the point is not the notes. The point is a live pipeline: deal risk, forecasting, and rep coaching, all tied to Salesforce.
Everything below is the detail that decides which one you actually need.
Pricing: where the comparison really starts
Fireflies publishes its prices. Its pricing page lists four tiers: free (unlimited transcription, limited AI summaries, 400 minutes of team storage), Pro at $10 per seat per month billed annually, Business at $19, and Enterprise at $39 with SSO, HIPAA, and private storage.
Gong does not publish prices. Its pricing page says licenses are priced per user on top of a platform fee, and that you need a custom proposal. Third-party breakdowns put Gong around $1,360 per user per year, before the platform fee and any separately priced modules. One comparison works out that a 100-person Fireflies deployment costs roughly $22,800 a year while a comparable Gong contract runs into six figures.
That gap is not a mistake. It is two different buyers. Fireflies is priced so a team lead can swipe a card. Gong is priced so it has to clear a finance review, because it is supposed to pay for itself in forecast accuracy, not in saved typing time.
What each one actually does
Fireflies: capture first, everything else second
Fireflies' core loop is simple. It auto-joins your meetings, produces a real-time transcript, and generates a summary with action items when the call ends. On top of that:
- Search across everything. AskFred answers questions about your whole meeting archive and points back to the exact timestamp.
- Language coverage. 100+ languages with automatic detection, which matters if your team sells globally.
- Post-meeting automation. AI Skills run against transcripts to produce scorecards, objection summaries, or follow-up drafts, and push results into Slack, your CRM, or project tools.
- A light coaching layer. Talk-to-listen ratios, filler word counts, and sentiment, so a manager can spot patterns without scrubbing recordings.
The important thing is what Fireflies is not. It does not read your pipeline. It does not forecast. It has no idea whether a deal is stalling. It only knows what was said on the call.
Gong: the deal, not the meeting
Gong's center of gravity points the other way. The platform captures calls, emails, and meetings, then threads them into what it calls a Revenue Graph: every interaction tied to accounts and opportunities in Salesforce.
- Forecast from conversations. Gong predicts which deals close and which are stalling, using signals from real customer conversations rather than rep-entered CRM fields.
- Deal risk. It flags when the right stakeholders are not engaged or when a deal has gone quiet.
- Coaching at scale. Gong grades reps against your methodology and ties training to win rates, built for teams with dedicated enablement staff.
- Salesforce-first. The depth of the Salesforce integration is the main reason large revenue orgs pick Gong, and the main reason it needs weeks of rollout.
The tradeoff: Gong does not publish a price, needs an assisted multi-week rollout, and its value only shows up at the pipeline level. A three-rep team gets almost nothing from a forecast model.
The one-line way to decide
- Pick Fireflies if you want meeting notes, search, and action items across your whole company, without a rollout and without a five-figure bill. It is built for teams that need to remember what was said, in any department.
- Pick Gong if you run a revenue organization where the weekly forecast and rep coaching are the job, and you already live in Salesforce. You are buying pipeline truth, not note-taking.
- If you need quote-backed notes without a bot joining the call, and you do not want to pay for a revenue platform you will not use, that is the gap Meetbook sits in.
Where Meetbook fits
Meetbook is the middle option. It records from the browser tab, so no bot joins your call. The transcript, summary, and action items come back with every point carrying its quote, speaker, and timestamp. It adds sales notes (budget, authority, need, timeline, objections, next steps), each with evidence, and delivers summaries to Slack and Notion. Business runs $29.99 per seat. What it deliberately does not do: it will not read your pipeline or push deals into a CRM. If you are choosing between Fireflies and Gong because you want note quality without the enterprise price tag, Meetbook is the third card on the table.
