Can other participants tell a bot is recording?

Yes — the Notetaker joins as a visible, named participant, not a hidden observer. Everyone in the call can see it in the participant list, the same as any other attendee.

What they see

The bot's display name defaults to something like "[Your name]'s Meetbook AI Notetaker" — configurable under Settings → Notetaker — so it's clear whose notetaker it is and why it's there. Most meeting platforms also show their own standard "recording in progress" indicator once the bot joins, exactly as they would for any other recording participant.

Removing the bot mid-meeting

Anyone with permission to remove participants can remove the notetaker like any other attendee, which immediately stops the recording — see The bot got removed from my meeting.

Consent

Recording laws vary by jurisdiction — some require all-party consent, not just the host's. The bot's visible presence in the participant list is what gives other attendees notice that the meeting is being recorded; you're responsible for complying with the consent requirements that apply to your meeting and location.
