Installing the desktop app

Electron app install, when to use it over the extension.

The desktop app is a standalone application for Mac and Windows — useful if you'd rather not rely on a browser tab staying open, or want Meetbook running independently of whatever browser windows you have open.

Installing it

Download the installer for your platform from the Meetbook website and run it like any other desktop application. Sign in with your existing Meetbook account — nothing needs to be reconfigured.

Desktop app vs. Chrome extension

Both can record calls happening in your browser or on your machine, but they suit different habits:

  • Chrome extension — lives inside the browser, good if you mostly join calls from Chrome tabs and want a one-click record button right there. See Installing the Chrome extension.
  • Desktop app — runs as its own application, independent of any specific browser or tab, better if you frequently close/reopen browser windows or use multiple browsers.

You don't need both — pick whichever fits how you actually work, or use neither if calendar auto-join already covers your meetings (see Quick start).
