Roles and permissions

Owner/admin/member matrix.

Every workspace member has a role that controls what workspace-wide actions they can take, separate from Channel-level access (see Channel permission levels for that distinction).

Workspace members list showing one member as Admin and another as Employee

Admin

Can manage billing and subscription (see Comparing plans), connect and disconnect integrations, invite and remove teammates, and change workspace-wide settings like recording rules and voiceprint recognition. New workspaces start with their creator as Admin.

Employee

Can record meetings, view and interact with whatever Channels they're a member of, and use AI Chat/Second Brain within their access — but can't touch billing, workspace-wide integrations, or member management.

Changing someone's role

From Settings → Workspace → Members, change a member's role from their row. Only an Admin can promote or demote another member.

Why a plan limit hits an Employee differently

Plan limits (seats, recording minutes, AI credits) can only be resolved by upgrading, which requires Admin access — see Comparing plans. If you're an Employee and hit a limit, there's no self-serve path around it; ask your workspace Admin.
